With the return of live music, sports, and in-person events since the pandemic began, many venues have moved from physical to mobile-only ticketing. Teams and event organizers are well aware that there will be pain points when changing to a new format.
Although, because of this, fans across the nation are experiencing longer wait times. A large percent of Ohio State fans grew frustrated and gained access to the game without having their tickets scanned.
Team officials feel this can be mitigated by fans downloading their mobile tickets to their Apple Wallet or Google Pay. Naturally, this will take some time for everyone to make that adjustment.
The shift to mobile-only ticketing has benefited teams greatly and also helped fans minus the wait times. Teams now have access to data they wouldn’t have been able to access before. Fans also benefit of the decrease in fraud from paper/physical ticketing.
