Charlotte FC has lofty goals for their inaugural season in the Major League Soccer (MLS). The club is targeting 20,000 season tickets sold before their league debut against the LA Galaxy on March 5th.

The team President, Nick Kelly, also wants to shatter the MLS single-match attendance record of 72,548 fans set by Atlanta United in 2019. Coincidently, their opponent was the LA Galaxy.

As it stands, Charlotte FC season tickets ranks among the top-third in MLS for sales. Their home field, Bank of America Stadium, is equipped to hold 38,000 fans. For high demand games, like the LA Galaxy, the club will open the upper deck. And to break the single-match record? They’d need to sell 74,000 tickets.

As if that weren’t enough, Kelly wants the average attendance to surpass 30,000 fans per game. He knows the only way to achieve that is through a strong season ticket holder base.

Charlotte FC is looking for strong loyalty from its supporters. One thing that has caused a rift between the fans and the club is the dreaded seat-license fees. Most fans don’t like an added fee on top of the already expense season tickets; but many understand if it’s a brand new stadium. Kelly admitted that they should’ve explained better what would come to the fans with added fees to their Charlotte FC season tickets.

In order to continue a strong fan base throughout the community, the club’s community out reach program finding a way to bring 22 soccer fields to the area in the coming years. In addition to that, they will also have literacy and after-school programs. This initiative will target under-served neighborhoods.
