Much like the MLB, a neutral site for the NHL may be in the works.
As one of many options the league is exploring to continue the season, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman has mentioned the possibility of a neutral location to finish the season. Grand Forks, North Dakota and Manchester, New Hampshire were two locations that were speculated on but executive director of the NHL Players Association, Donald Fehr, has denied any serious consideration for those locations.
Although, he stated, “Other than the general understanding that they’re looking at all possibilities, which includes neutral sites — neutral being defined as a place that isn’t a home base for an NHL team” to ESPN.
Aside from the CDC rulings and borders between the U.S. and Canada, the potential neutral cities should have the ability to accommodate all the teams in the local area. The league is prepared to play into the late summer months in order complete the season.
